The Girl Camper movement has begun!
What is a Girl Camper? We are a women’s outdoor adventure group that explores and travels the country in RVs, campers, tents or whatever other mode that fits our style. We meet new friends, check off bucket list adventures and do things most folks only dream of.
Why do they need a Well-being Expert? Because everyone should have a Health Coach! Learning how to tow a trailer or how to be safe on the road is one thing, but we want to stay healthy and well so we can get out—and stay out— for our next adventure.
As the Girl Camper Health Coach I offer ways to improve and maintain our health while traveling to our next destination, camping long or short term, or anything in-between.
Wanna camp like a girl? Join the movement!
Heads up! To read these articles you will leave my sight and be redirected to Girl Camper.
When the coronavirus struck and it was difficult to purchase disinfectants, wipes, cleaning supplies, bleach and all other cleaning supplies, I didn’t really worry. I simply grabbed a gallon of white vinegar, a jug of peroxide, some liquid castile soap and a few essential oils. Viola! Hospital-grade disinfectant and a cleaner that works as well bleach with no harmful chemicals or fragrance that cause respiratory issues. Because who needs that right now?
Whether we are heading to the campground, already at the campground, or on a road trip across the country—we want to make sure we continue to eat healthy while we travel. Many of us think that just because we are going on an adventure we can throw our healthy eating habits to the wind. “Oh, just this one time” we say to ourselves. “It’s only for a few days.” Well, those days add up, especially if we camp frequently!
What are the keys to unlocking our fears? A few weeks back, Janine, our Camper in Chief, was boondocking out at the wildly popular Quartzite. She posted on the Girl Camper Facebook page that she had been getting lots of messages asking if she was afraid, and so she posed the question, “What are you afraid of?”
Recently, Janine Pettit, our founder here at Girl Camper, posted an update on the Girl Camper Headquarters Facebook page about taking a walk, in the rain, and in the middle of a workday—and how great she felt about it afterwards.“As I get older, I more often give myself permission to do things my way. I have figured this out about myself. I’m not a gym girl. I’m not someone who’s going to be in yoga pants at the Y at 7 AM. Or Noon. Or 6 PM….
Add these 4 little bottles to your camping “medicine cabinet” and you’ll be prepared for just about anything you encounter. They pack a punch with their compact size and multifunctional capabilities, which means no more packing an extra tote with all of your full-size containers!
Looking for something different and delicious to eat? Let’s think out of the box when it comes to eating breakfast at the campground this summer! While planning out your menu and itinerary for your next vacation getaway, give the ol’ bacon and eggs a kick to the curb, and better yet, ditch the heavy, sugar-laden, empty calorie, and carb-inducing pancakes for something healthier yet just as satisfying.
Fun and healthy. They don’t need to be mutually exclusive. No reason to take a break from healthy living just because we’re on vacation. This is an unhealthy habit to get into and truly not sustainable. In fact, most of us have been living this way for most of our lives. We “push our health forward” by making excuses as to why we deserve to have that last cookie, that delicious ice cream cone or a sweet piece of cake.
Summer is finally upon us and many of us Girl Campers (add link to homepage when site is live) will be spending our days outdoors. This means lots of sun, swimming, hiking, and you guessed it, sunburns. Many of us pick up our sunscreen products at Target, Walmart or other convenience stores but we never really think to question; are sunscreens safe for us? Are they safe for the environment? We should never assume the answer is yes to either.
